Meet Mrs. Nicholson

Hi friends! This is my 8th year teaching first grade at Neabsco. I love learning and growing along with my students!

I was raised and went to school in Northern Virginia where I grew up playing soccer and running track and cross country. After high school I graduated with a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Washington. I live in Prince William with my husband and my son, Luke. We also have 2 cats, Leo and Jewel, and an energetic dog, Sadie. Whenever I have some free time I love to read, go hiking, and relax at the beach!

Meet Ms. Barnes

About Me
Hello everyone, it's so nice to meet you! My name is Yasmin Barnes and this is my first year of teaching at Neabsco Elementary School. 
For my background, I was born in central Texas, and have lived in Virginia for 14 years. I attended both middle school and high school in Prince William County. During college, I went to the University of Mary Washington where I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and my Master's of Science in Elementary Education.
This  year has garnered many new experiences for everyone, but  I aim to help my students progress as learners and individuals throughout the year by providing engaging content and activities for them to participate and learn in!
My moto is through our differences we thrive! So although, my students come from many different backgrounds and cultures, everyone deserves a chance to have fun, learn, and be themselves. Even though, we're not all in the classroom together, we can still grow and work with each other from home. I hope everyone is excited for the year to come!

About Me

I have lived in Virginia my whole life. I went to school in Prince William County, just like you! I graduated from George Mason University with a master’s degree in Education in 2016. This is my 5th year teaching 1^st grade. It is my favorite grade to teach because students learn and grow so much! I have 2 cats named George and Missy. I am recently engaged and will be getting married in 2022! In my free time, I love to read and listen to music.
